It was a cold day at the beach, but unbelievably lucky timing and a break in the weather afforded me this peaceful yet dynamic glimpse of the Pacific Ocean as known and appreciated by Southern Californians. It was the culmination of the day, which began at 2am in Hollywood at the Chateau Marmont, then on to Union Station, sunrise in the Santa Monica Mountains and Latigo Canyon, then some midday sleep. The beginnings of Magic Hour...my favorite!

Equipment

Photographed on a Nikon D100 with a Sigma 8mm Fisheye and QuickPanIII panohead at 3 degrees up, ISO 400 for 6s to 1/60s @ f/11. The image was stitched with PTMac, edited and layered with Photoshop 5.5 and processed with MakeCubic & QuickTimePro. Sprites were added from Quick Time for the Web at http://homepage.mac.com/qt4web/sprites/items.html.
