A Little Piece of the Mediterranean

Gardens were once just things that people tended behind their own houses, quite often keeping their amazing creations to themselves. But soon people found opportunities to share their work with others and what you see here is the pinnacle of exhibition gardens. These gardens form just part of the Malvern Spring Garden show and are judged by the Royal Horticultural Society.

While you can marvel at the garden itself what makes it even more amazing is the time scale. About a week before this panorama was shot there was nothing here but an empty area of grass and within another week it will be returned. This garden and all the others you can see around are temporary structures.

All the gardens have themes and take inspiration from other places. This garden, created by Andrew Jordan, takes its inspiration from the Mediterranean culture and so is called "Return to the Med". You could say that this is a little piece of the Mediterranean transported to Malvern. It wouldn't be difficult to imagine yourself sitting in one of the chairs watching the sun slowly setting over the sea.

Taken with a Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G fisheye lens. Mounted on a Nodal Ninja 5 panorama head and R-D16 rotator atop a Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod. Shots taken at 6 positions 60° apart, tilted 15° down, another shot taken looking straight up and a hand held shot taken looking straight down. Raw files then processed in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.0 before being stitched together using PTGui Pro 9.1.7 and converted using Pano2VR 4.1.0.
