Caption
Neunhof Castle is located in a small village north of the city of Nuremberg. The Castle was constructed for the Patrician family Kress in the second half of the 15th century. The castle is equipped with moats and a bulwark. Since baroque times the castle was used as a summer- and also hunting seat. It was also then that the gardens were added.

Neunhof Castle is one of the best-preserved manors of the region. The building is still privately owned and also hosts a branch of the “Germanisches Nationalmuseum”. Parts of the building are open to the public though, on a few occasions the house is still in use by its owners. But surely it is not easy to live in such a historic monument: due to preservational issues, the shower for example could only be installed in the stables.
