Shetoushan or "Snake's Head Mountain," is opposite Longtoushan, and together they are a good example of the topography created by a meandering stream. Over time, deposits of earth and stones piled up and became connected with the mountains, creating landforms that resemble the head and tongue of a hundred-pace-long snake today. It is interesting to geologists as an example of a broad "meandering stream" topography in Taiwan. The area is only 1.5 hrs from the city of Kaohsiung, and weekends bring large numbers of visitors for walks and other outdoor activities in the area.
