Unusual about the temples found in tropical and rain forest climates is that the trees have grown back in the hundreds of years since the grounds were first deforested to build these structures. Now restoration of these temples have included cutting back forest growth. Around Banteay Srei is a forest of Kapok trees. They are also called Ceiba and silk-cotten trees. Often described as majestic they can grow to a height of 150 feet or more, towering over other trees in the rainforest.
