The number of taps increased by about 70 to nearly 200 this year. Most of the tapped trees are on this side hill. The forest also produces the wood used to boil the sap down to syrup.
By March 19th enough sap was collected to run the evaporator for the first time this season. Once the boil starts more stream than smoke is coming out the roof.
