This panorama shows a sculpture of a fox carved on a fallen tree in Prehen Woods, Derry. Prehen Woods is a small area (< 10 hectares) of ancient woodland close to Derry City, N. Ireland.

Despite the fact that the area plan published in the last decade declared that there should be no more development in the area, the bulldozers and chain saws once again entered Prehen Woods in 2012 to destroy another corner of the woods to make way for more houses, and did so with the tacit approval of the local minister responsible for planning.

It is an ancient woodland dating back to 1600. The entire wood has “Tree Preservation Order” status. It is managed by The Woodland Trust. Despite this it is constantly being threatened with encroachment for housing. It takes persistent campaigning by local people to retain what is left of the woods.

Equipment
Equipment: The source images were taken with a Canon EOS 5D, Zenitar 16mm fisheye f/2.8 lens. The camera was mounted on a Kaiden Kiwi panorama adapter on a Manfrotto 190XDB tripod.

Horizontal photographs were taken at 60° angles and also two ground shots and a sky shot. Each "shot" consisted of three bracketed exposures from +2 to -2 stops.

A total of 27 separate images were combined using Hugin in order to achieve this High Dynamic Range type result.
