Baden-Baden is one of the most well-known cities in the black forest, mostly because of the spa. But my interest was never in the city or spa, but in the Battert rocks high above.
I learned climbing there and went there several times a week plus the weekend when I was young. Due to the dark rock and orientation to the south you can even climb short-sleeved in midwinter while the spa guests are cold down in the forest.
It wasn't that cold after this sunny climbing day in early april, but most trees hadn't leaves yet.
