In order to access the small fishing villages along the coast roadways must be constructed several miles through Mangrove wetlands to the white sand beaches.
These roadway embankments serve vehicles, water, sewage, electric power and communication utility lines for the Hotels along the Carribean ocean front.
The roadways have bridges that let the salt water move inland into the Mangrove wetlands. Wetlands and wildlife habitats are destroyed during construction. Equal areas are set aside for replacement planting areas.
