We stand not far from Gatchina Palace in the place of the Palace Park where the Upper Dutch garden goes down to the Carp pond. The Upper and Lower Dutch gardens were created in 1794-1795. The Dutch Gardens got its name not only because of the modest size, but because of the tulips, which were planted there in spring. Clear layout and symmetry of the gardens turns them into continuation of palace rooms outdoors.

Total area of Palace Park is 150 hectares, 36 hectares of the park area are occupied by lakes, ponds and canals.
