The monastery dating back to the end of the thirteenth century is located near a small river tributary of the Acheron River, just outside a small village, Kypseli.
It's is an important monument of the late Byzantine era and the so-called Despotate of Epirus years.
Great to discover the monastery hidden under old trees with generous shade.
In fact, when I first saw the very discreet road-sign with its name, I thought I've finally found again the byzantine monastery I was seeking for. The other monastery, that I had visited about seventeen years ago, was also called ''Agios Dimitrios''.
Great moment, wonderful surprise to be here for the first time.
The only drawback : Agios Dimitrios was closed ! But nobody to ask the opening of the chapel...
