The Dance of Death or Danse Macabre on the walls of the narthex of St. Michael’s Chapel in the Old Cemetery in Freiburg dates back to the second half of the 18th century. The original version was severely damaged during the Second World War. What we see today is a work by Wolfram Köberl from 1963. The Dance of Death is an allegory on the universality of death.
