The Moki Dugway is a series of sharp switchbacks up the 1200' ascent up the face of Cedar Mesa.  This pano was taken about 1/3 of the way up the face at the second switchback (the number of switchbacks and grade increase the higher up the cliff).

The Moki Dugway was originally constructed in 1958 by the Texas Zinc Mining Company to transport uranium ore down the mesa for processing near the village of Mexican Hat (about 10 miles from the base.)  The switchbacks are dirt surfaced and about 3 miles long with an average 11% grade and is considered one of the "Scariest Roads in Utah".

Views of the Valley of the Gods and its rock formations (similar to those found in Monument Valley) from the road are spectacular.
