The small yacht from whose deck I took this photo had a most unusual stayless cat-yawl rig, but no doubt sailed sweetly. In the light of current America's Cup practice, I would particularly like to call attention to the world's first racing catamaran, hanging directly in front of her. Cap'n Nat built it around 1876, won every race it was allowed to enter that season, then retired it because he didn't consider it a real sailboat.
