It is now almost a two decades tradition that I travel with my family for a couple of weeks to France during the Summer holidays. We made a story and follow it … in the year 2013 was a story »world wars«. We started with the locations of the WWI at Nancy and followed the front line to Verdun and to the west to Somme River and Normandy. In Normandy we continued with the WWII locations from the Upper Normandy to the Invasion beaches from Cobourg to Cherbourg. A long journey with a lot of history and landmarks – many were »off the beaten tracks«.
