The Small Pond is the second largest and most picturesque pond in the Sudeten Mountains. The lake is at the height of 1,183 m above sea level, has an area of 2.9 ha and is about 7 meters deep. Its clean water is facilitated by Monotus lacutris - inhabits a relict of the Ice Age. The cauldron of the Small Pond is located in the central part of the Giant Mountains, at the foot of the coupling scheme [Równia pod Śnieżką] and the Southberg [Smogornia] (1,489 m above sea level). Its 200 m high slopes with some rocky gorges run directly into the little pond. In the near Little Pond is located a cottage called Samotnia.

In winter, the cauldron of the Small Pond is a dangerous place because of the snow falling down.

Behind the scene : how this panorama was made

I have taken 5 shots around + zenith + nadir. Bracketing +/- 2EV. Component pictures has been fused togehter using Enfuse. Stitching: with Autopano Giga 2.6. Converting to cube faces: with KRPano Tool: Convert SPHERE to CUBE droplet. Retouching: Hugin (for 'defishing' of the fishye picture) and Gimp 2.6. Reconverting to sphere with Convert CUBE to SPHERE droplet from KRPan Tools. Additional soft tonemapping and sharpening with Machinery HDR Effects 2.1
