This view from the alpine hut called "Alpensöhnehütte" (= Sons of the Alps) is truly overwhelming. The forests here encompass a rich variety of trees and bushes, predominantly consisting of mountain pines, European beeches, European larches and pines.

But even more picturesque than the partially snow-covered trees of the Halltal is the play-of-light in the late afternoon sky. As the autumnal sun is about to set behind the Hochmahdkopf (the name of this peak indicates that here people used to harvest hay by hand some time ago), some opposing peaks are still in the sunlight. For me there is no doubt: Beautiful weather in the Alps surely involves the presence of plenty of clouds.
