Since the beginning of this century the International Biennal of Design takes place in Saint Étienne. Settled in a new space now, in a late 1900 restored set of buildings factory, former weapons manufacturing company. The Biennal offers the opportunity of discovering a significant number of amazing designers' works from many countries, bringing to light that design has become now an important and unavoidable constituent of our everyday life.

The panorama was taken in the place where the exhibition LUMIÈRE)S( was installed.

« Light sifts,reveals, dazzles. It is symbolically linked with the demiurgic act.
Fiat lux. Let the light be.

But in a hyper-technological world, the vital and creative power can be reversed. In the shape of a constellation, the exhibition Lumière)s( offers the journey of a galactic geometry which reveals light as ambivalent substance. The modules of the exhibition are structured around the link between light, dance, design, medicine and new technologies. Spread in different space-time continums, they are a stellar system : places and times of events will reflect the paradoxes of a light sometimes natural, sometimes artificial, displayed in the Biennal as well as in the city, day or night, whether permanent or ephemeral «
