Bwindy Light Masks is a light art project by Richi Ferrero, one of the first and greatest Italian light artists.From November 2010 to January 2011, forty identical terracotta African masks were placed in the courtyard of Palazzo Chiablese.
During the day the masks were still and silent, waiting for the lights and music ritual dance that take place every afternoon at 18:00.
Every mask is illuminated by R, G and B LEDs, and contains LEDs that illuminate the other masks as well as the flat background, endlessly creating color combinations of red, green and blue.
Music plays a leading role in the show: the hypnotic Legend is sung by the Bulgarian choir Angelite and the Tuvan throat singing group, the Huun-Huur-Tu.
This art installation has been visited by hundreds of people of every age, captured and fascinated by the delightful mix of lights and music.
Bwindi Light Masks was previously presented in Frankfurt during LUMINALE 2010.

Bwindy Light Masks è un progetto artistico di Richi Ferrero, uno dei primi e più grandi artisti italiani della luce.Da novembre 2010 a gennaio 2011, quaranta identiche maschere africane di terracotta sono state piazzate nel cortile di Palazzo Chiablese.
Durante il giorno esse rimangono ferme e silenziose, aspettando il rito di luci e suoni che inizia ogni sera alle 18:00.
Ogni maschera è illuminata da LED R, G e B e contiene a sua volta dei LED che illuminano le altre maschere e lo sfondo retrostante, creando infinite combinazioni di rosso, verde e blu.
La musica gioca un ruolo di primo piano: viene trasmesso ininterrottamente l'ipnotico brano Legend, cantato dal coro Bulgaro Angelite e dal gruppo Huun-Huur-Tu, maestri del canto gutturale Tuva.
Questa installazione è stata visitata da centinaia di spettatori di tutte le età, rapiti ed affascinati dal coinvolgente mix di luci e suoni.
Bwindi Light Masks è stato precedentemente presentato a Francoforte per LUMINALE 2010.
