Bwindy Light Masks is a light art project by Richi Ferrero, one of the first and greatest Italian light artists.

From November 2010 to January 2011, forty identical terracotta African masks were placed in the courtyard of Palazzo Chiablese.

During the day the masks were still and silent, waiting for the lights and music ritual dance that take place every afternoon at 18:00.

Every mask is illuminated by R, G and B LEDs, and contains LEDs that illuminate the other masks as well as the flat background, endlessly creating color combinations of red, green and blue.

Music plays a leading role in the show: the hypnotic Legend is sung by the Bulgarian choir Angelite and the Tuvan throat singing group, the Huun-Huur-Tu.

This art installation has been visited by hundreds of people of every age, captured and fascinated by the delightful mix of lights and music.

Bwindi Light Masks was previously presented in Frankfurt during LUMINALE 2010.
