In the bureaucratic wisdom that only comes from government, the state of Nebraska decided to move the annual state fair (a bit like carnival but with contests and awards) out of the capitol city of Lincoln to the city of Grand Island, the third largest city in Nebraska.

At (approximately) the same location for 140 years, the fair this August/September 2009 was the last one to take place at the fairgrounds in Lincoln. The land will be taken over by the University of Nebraska as a technology park.

I've always liked the area and the history in this part of town. The fair buildings are all unique and show how times have changed over the decades.

The fair will be missed.
