Barrack Obama's victory speech from Chicago was broadcast to a cheering audience watching on a very busy night in Times Square. A large plasma screen was set up in Duffy Square's new public amphitheater adjoining the new Times Square TKTS booth. Some lucky people got a spot on a sweeping glass staircase glowing with ruby red lighting to enjoy the moment while taking in a special view of Times Square.
Americans overwhelmingly voted for change by electing Illinois Senator Barrack Obama to be its next President of the United States on a platform promising to redirect the nation away from waging war based on the politics of fear. This historic election raises the hopes of all Americans for leadership to reverse the nation's economic, political and social missteps and bring back dignity and hope for all of its citizens.
