This old mine and shack is located roughly halfway between Idaho Springs and Central City on Virginia Canyon Road (also known as: ‘Oh My God Road.’) As such it spans both Clear Creek County and Gilpen County. Although I do not know the history or exact name of this old mine, it is one of several located in the old Virginia Canyon Mining District.

Despite its formidable nickname, “Oh My God Road” is a very scenic and pleasant drive between the casinos of Central City and historic Idaho Springs.
