This image was taken at the
Oriente Station located in the
Parque das Nações on the Eastern side of Lisbon. Located on the Rio Tejo, this park is the site of the Expo 98 world exposition. The park has the world's third largest aquarium, a cable car that offers panoramic views of the park and surrounding area and has two of the largest concert venues in Lisbon.
The station was designed by the internationally known Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. It is a striking work of architecture with many interesting details. I couldn't resist taking a panorama at the apex of the canopy which seems to sweep you off of your feet. I also took a panorama of the multi-faceted canopy on the train platform. I was in Portugal to attend a QTVR Summit that was canceled at the last minute. Since I had all of my reservations I went anyway and spent the time taking panoramas in Lisbon and Sintra. I took over 70 panoramas and many are on my website at:
