I stopped while hiking Pupukea summit trail in September 2005 to capture this fun set of branches along the trail. The treetops all swoop in one direction because of the extreme winds on this ridge about two miles from the ocean. The trees on the other side of the trail are strawberry guavas.
I had to take several duplicate pictures to make up for the swaying of the branches in the 25-50 mph gusts that also played with my tripod, but it's still my favorite panorama of the year.
