This is one of my first panoramas. I created it for a political science course called Digital Democracy at Acadia University.
The focus of Digital Democracy is examining the Digital Divide, which is the difference in access to technology, government services, and other resources between people who have technology and people who don't. We looked at access to resources by groups of people who have been marginalized and ignored, like people living in the far north, aboriginals, and African Canadians.
I was working with a community group, the Valley African Nova Scotian Development Association (
VANSDA) on a project to globalize their heritage destination trail project, the Matheiu Da Costa Trail. The trail highlights several points of significant importance to African Nova Scotian heritage and history.
This panorama is down on the docks of Hantsport, Nova Scotia. Hantsport is significant as it is the hometown of William Hall, the first Canadian of African descent to be awarded the Victoria Cross while serving with the Royal Navy.
