The Chilehaus represents the newer north German hard brick architecture. The slim unconventional building is one of Hamburg's most important historical monuments.
The enormous ‘Chile House’ maybe is the best-known building in Hamburg’s Kontorhausviertel. The 'stone flag-ship', as the Chile house is also called, was built after the first world war (anno 1922) and counted as a symbol for the reconstruction of the Hansatic economy.
