A very big earthquake of M7.0 happened around Kobe on January 17, 1995. (The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake)
The damage was very big.
"LUMINARIE" started because of people's repose of souls that died of the earthquake and the revivals of the town in Kobe.
This park has the memorial cenotaph and the monument in the death in Kobe. In such a meaning, this park is usually a place of the rest of people, and will be able to be called a sacred place.
A lot of people gather in this park on January 17 every year. People enshrine the wax candle and offer a silent prayer.
A very big earthquake happened in Niigata in Japan this year. And, a lot of people died. I offered a silent prayer for a large number of deaths
And, a large earthquake happened in Asia when the preparation for opening to the public of this work was advanced. (Epicenter: Sumatra and Indonesia/December 26,2004)Damage occurred on a worldwide scale. A lot of 24,000 people or more (Details are still uncertain) have died.
