Happy Tails Pet Sancturay was founded in 1993 by volunteers committed to a common goal: To create a safe haven for abandoned and abused animals.Happy Tails has a major program for rescuing homeless and abandoned cats and kittens, dogs and puppies from local shelters. They also rescue animals from the streets and those who have been abandoned at their feral colonies. Although concentrating mainly on feline and canine rescue, they've also rescued rabbits, potbellied pigs, ferrets, and even a box turtle in the past.
Rescued cats and dogs are tested, vaccinated, altered, and microchipped before being placed in loving homes or relocated to controlled colonies where they are maintained in a safe, healthy environment. Volunteers visit their colonies at least once a day. Their extensive feral cat program is responsible for maintaining 12 feral colonies as sterile, healthy colonies.

Herding Cats
Making this panorama gave new meaning to the phrase "as difficult as herding cats". The idea was to arrange the thirty or so cats in the room on the different "cat tree" structures and then make the panorama by rotating the camera on its tripod and taking eight photos to stitch together. The cats had other ideas. They have minds of their own and generally don't want to do what you want them to do. By my count there are twenty-three cats in the photo but I'm afraid that a few cats show up more than once (it's difficult to tell since some had quite similar markings).
