It sure didn't feel like winter near my home on the northwest side of Chicago at the moment of the solstice. Temperatures in the low 40's wrapped the night in fog and a light mist - check out the bank clock down the street!

Not many people on the roads, but there are always plenty of customers at the Superdawg Drive-In, a "wrinkle in time" in the city since 1948. Carhops still hang your order on your window while Mr. and Mrs. Superdawg (a pair of 12' tall hot dog caricatures) wink at you from the rooftop.

Of course, if a Superdawg or a Whoopercheesie doesn't sound tempting, perhaps you'd prefer a donut and coffee at the Dunkin' Donuts across the street. Not nearly as kitschy or fun, but equally popular with the nighttime crowd.

No donuts or dawgs were harmed in the making of this panorama.

Equipment
Eight sets of bracketed images, three each, were taken to create this HDR panorama using a Nikon D80 camera equipped with a Nikor 10.5mm wide-angle lens, mounted on a "Nodal-Ninja 3" spherical bracket atop a Manfrotto Tripod. Enfuse was used to combine the images which were then stitched using PTGuiPro 7.5, postprocessed with Photoshop, and compiled into QuickTimeVR format using Pano2VR.
