I feel a little sorry for their neighbors - even if they did put up what would be a "normal" assortment of lights, they would surely pale in comparison.
By the way, I'm no slouch on the Christmas lights myself. That white Suburban in the road has three rope lights on the roof rack and a lighted wreath on the front grill, all powered by a 500-watt inverter plugged into the lighter socket. My home enjoys about 300 C-9 bulbs, a couple thousand mini-lights and several pieces of yard art.
