The Jerome Hotel and has been a landmark and favorite watering hole since it was built in 1889. It was painted blue by Herbet Bayer in 1946 and was popular with the 10th Mountain soldiers who would spend the weekend and enjoy a special drink called the Aspen Crud - a mix of ice cream and whiskey. After a major renovation in the 1985 the hotel is now one of Aspen's high end establishments.
I had a few minutes to spare on my way to the bus and scouted a few locations for the wrinkle in time event. It had been snowing for most of the day at at 5 p.m., what little sunlight was left was obscured by the cloud cover. The Jerome was on my route and the door man was amenable to pose for this shot.
