Since I had to work on December 21 and prepare for the holidays that night, I was not able to travel to a site to shoot as I would have liked. I still wanted to participate in this event so I setup my equipment to photograph my work area at the exact time of the solstice.

I navigated to timeanddate.com and setup a custom countdown timer to 01:08 EST and filled the screen on one of my monitors. On the other monitor I opened Google Earth and centered on my house. I displayed the Wikipedia site defining Solstice on my iMac and the same countdown timer on the computer behind me.

At 1 second before 01:08 EST I began the panorama sequence which took about 2 minutes to complete.

I added a holiday greeting to the nadir. Peace on Earth to all!
