Castle from the middle ages
In the middle ages Warmond knew several castles. They have all disappeared except for the "Huys te Warmont". This castle stood there already far before the year 1300. Records show that around that time Jacob van der Woude lost the castle, because he was accused of being involved in the assassination on Count Floris V in 1296. The castle now looks complete differently, because in those times it was a real medieval citadel.

Devastation
The castle has been devastated many times, but was always rebuilt. The house was a support point during the Hoekse and Kabeljauwse civil war around 1500, but also in the eighty-year war, the house did not escape devastation. In 1572 the owner, Johan van Duivenvoorde, freed the city of Den Briel from the Spaniards, and in retaliation the Spaniards destroyed his home. When the times got better for Johan, he returned and rebuilt the castle in 1579. Around 1800 the house got its shape as we know it now.

Restoration
In the years 1962 and 1963 the house was restored thoroughly and subdivided in apartments. The Huys te Warmont is inhabited since by several families.
