I shot this panorama while out walking with a friend during my Christmas holidays in 2019.

Aikey Brae stone circle lies approximately 1.2 miles west of the village of Old Deer in Aberdeenshire. This stone circle, one of nearly 150 in Aberdeenshire, is known as a recumbent stone circle as it features a large stone lying on its side. The recumbent stone here is estimated to weigh 21.5 tons.

This is one of my favourite panoramas as the sky was relatively free of clouds and the location offered a spectacular view of the surrounding landscape. The long shadow of the 'flanking' stone to the left of the recumbent stone allowed me to hide my shadow.

Equipment

Canon 500D, Sigma 8mm fisheye, Nodal Ninja 3 MKII VR head, Photomatix, PTGui, Pano2VR, Photoshop.
