Worcester is like any other modern city, slowly being strangled by an ever increasing traffic load. In 1985 a southern link road was completed allowing traffic to flow from the West, across the river Severn, to the East and the M5 motorway without ever hitting the center of Worcester. As you can imagine this made getting around a lot easier.

Well in the 30 years that have passed since the road was opened the rate of traffic expansion has not slowed down, to the point where the link road now regularly gets clogged. So over the last few years a new plan has been drawn up upgrading it from a single to dual carriageway. Now this creates it's own problem, one of disruption when the work is taking place. But as you can see, this, the 2nd phase of the work is now complete.

I knew the location where I wanted to take this panorama from but my safety was always going to be a concern, dodging multiple lanes of traffic to get to the center of the roundabout. With this in mind I decided to get up at the crack of dawn one Sunday morning and run across the lanes when it was quiet. Unexpectedly the roads weren't as empty as I thought with a local car boot sale (to the right of the rising sun) in full swing when I arrived. Luckily for me the traffic was still quiet enough to safely get to the center and back without issue.
