Thompson's Mills is a fairly new Oregon State Park which preserves an old facility near Shed, Oregon. On site are a number of displays and ready tour guides equipped with not just facts, but myriads of stories of the people who worked there.

As a site preserving elements of the past, it reminds us of the passage time in many ways. While new and modern at one time, it now seems archaic and aged. The contrast between times is highlighted by very modern fluorescent lights and yellow caution tape against the worn wood and old mechanical devices.

A different element of time is illustrated in that this site was the subject of an earlier WWP entry for "Beginnings" just one year ealier, by Eva LaMar.
