“For the past 10 years Volunteers of America and the Denver Rescue Mission have teamed up to celebrate Easter for the homeless and less fortunate with a traditional holiday dinner and interdenominational church service. . .”

“The Spanish Chapel of the Denver Rescue Mission was reserved for the ‘foot washing’ and volunteer podiatry by Inner City Health. Volunteers knelt at the feet of the homeless and bathed each stranger's feet in a symbolic act of Christian humility”

--Taken from “Feeding Body And Soul This Easter.” By Heather Spencer, Community Affairs Specialist for Volunteers of America's Colorado Branch. As printed by Denver.yourHub.com. 3.24.2008.
The Denver Rescue Mission served 500 Homeless Men Women and Children on Good Friday, 3.21.08. In addition to the podiatry all received a new pair of shoes and socks and the children were given Easter Baskets; not a bad way to begin spring, 2008, especially since many will enroll in programs designed to get them off of the street, and into new lives.
