Mercado Municipal Paulistano - called "Mercadão" was planned by Francisco Ramos de Azevedo, and inaugurated in 1933. Last year it was restored for the 500 year anniversary of the city of São Paulo.

Today, with 1.000 workers, 316 kiosks daily sell 350 tons of food from Brazil and other countries. It's visited daily by more than 10.000 customers during the week and on Saturday this number double.
